Time and Location

The farm tour starts at either 10 am or 4 pm and lasts approximately one hour. For directions to our property, please refer to our Contact Us page.

When you arrive at Luna Lodge, look for our mini-dome letterbox to confirm that you have reached our property. Please inform us if you anticipate being late so that we can delay the start of the tour if needed.

The Tour Itself – Your Safety and Our Animals’ Welfare

To ensure a quality experience for all guests, we limit tours to six people. During the tour, your safety and the welfare of our animals are of utmost importance. Our animals are friendly and love interacting with guests and we let them drive their level of involvement with us. We ask that you let them come to you instead of approaching them. If you have a fear of animals, that is okay, many people do. Just talk to us before the tour and we can manage the interactions around what you are comfortable with. Our goal is for all guests to have a positive experience with our animals and leave with a better understanding of them.

Our standard tour is a walking tour and covers uneven ground. Closed-toe shoes and a moderate level of fitness are required. Loose clothing may spook the animals, so we recommend avoiding such clothing. If you have mobility issues, please inform us before the tour so that we can provide alternative arrangements. At times, our animals may exhibit impatience or distress, and we may ask you to modify your behaviour for your safety and their enjoyment. Please follow our instructions in such instances.

***Please note that we have several hazards on our property, including uneven ground, unfenced waterways and dams, wildlife, electric fences, and dry stone rock walls. We ask that you exercise caution around these hazards and refrain from climbing on the rock walls or touching the electric fences. Our cows do have horns and, while conditioned, they are not tame in the same way a dog may be. We require one adult for every two children and ask that children under three be carried when around our cows. Parents must keep an eye on their children at all times. ***

When attending our tour you acknowledge the risks associated and retain the responsibility for your own safety, and those in your care.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change, and we are happy to accommodate changes or cancellations to your booking with at least 48 hours’ notice (full refund of your booking fee). However, if you need to make changes or cancel your booking with less than 48 hours’ notice, we will be unable to accommodate your request, and the booking fee will be non-refundable.

In the event that we need to cancel the tour, we will inform you as soon as possible and provide a full refund of the booking fee.

Our Animal Interaction Policy:

During the tour, our priority is the safety and well-being of our animals, as well as our guests. We have a policy of allowing our animals to approach guests on their own terms, ensuring a positive experience for both the animals and our guests. While we have never had an instance where our cows have not approached guests for a brush, we always stop the last 10 meters from the cows and allow them to approach us. If, for any reason, the cows do not approach, we will not push them, and the tour will continue as planned. In the unlikely event that this happens and you feel your farm experience was not what you expected, we will offer you a full refund.

Weather and Farm Tours

The tour will proceed as scheduled unless we notify you otherwise. Please check the weather forecast at least three days before your tour and decide if you are willing to undertake the tour in the expected weather conditions. If you decide to cancel your tour due to the weather, you will receive a full refund if you cancel greater than 48 hours out from your booking.
